Trump’s Tariffs Deadline: 90 Countries Effected – How does it effect your import / export business?

Trumps' Tariff Deadline: August 7th 2025

As of August 7, 2025, Donald Trump’s long-anticipated tariff hike has officially taken effect. A total of 90 countries now face increased import charges when trading with the United States.

Trump’s Tariffs Deadline: Explained

This move, announced after “Liberation Day,” is aimed at reshoring manufacturing jobs and reducing America’s trade deficit. By making foreign imports more expensive, Trump hopes to push companies to relocate operations to the U.S.

For global trade, the rollout offers a clearer picture of what to expect when exporting to the U.S.—a shift that could bring some stability to international markets.

Some major economies, including the UK, Japan, South Korea, and the EU, have negotiated deals to soften the impact. The EU, for example, agreed to a 15% tariff.

India, however, faces a looming 50% tariff, set to kick in at the end of August, due to its continued oil trade with Russia. Trump has criticised this, claiming it undermines efforts to end the war in Ukraine, a conflict he says he can resolve.

Below is a list of some of the new rates for countries that have failed to strike a deal:

These rates come into effect as of the 7th of August 2025, barring India, which is scheduled to be implemented from the end of the month.
