News Categories. NewsOn June 16th, a major trade agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom was finalised under the Economic Prosperity Deal (EPD).
It appears the “special relationship” between the USA and the UK is coming into fruition. Despite Trump and Starmer’s positions on either side of the political spectrum, Trump has claimed to have protected the UK from tariffs “because I like them”. Whether this is due to how Starmer works with Trump, or merely Trump’s admiration for the British public, is unclear.
This deal is set to significantly reduce tariffs and streamline trade in key sectors, including automotive and aerospace — two industries where KG Logistics offers specialised freight forwarding and logistics services.
What the Trade Deal Means for Your Business
- Lower Tariffs on UK Exports: UK carmakers will now be able to export up to 100,000 vehicles to the US annually under a reduced 10% tariff, down from the previous 25%. This opens new cost-effective routes for British automotive manufacturers and parts suppliers.
- Tariff Elimination for Aerospace Products: Tariffs on UK aerospace exports, including aircraft parts and components, will be fully eliminated, allowing greater competitiveness in the US market.
- Reduced Barriers for US Exports to the UK: Tariffs on US-made industrial goods such as ethanol and other non-food items are being reduced or eliminated, easing access to UK markets for American manufacturers.
- Digital Trade & Future Expansion: Both countries also plan to negotiate a future digital trade agreement, promising even more streamlined commerce in tech and service-based sectors.
